Government Arts College, Amirgadh is situated in Amirgadh Taluka, near to Banas River in the tribal area of North Gujarat District Banaskantha. The institution was established in 2008 by the Government of Gujarat to provide quality education to students from the surrounding villages of Amirgadh Taluka. Since the institution is located in the border area of Gujarat it carries more accountability. Its long-term commitment to nation building and unflinching adherence to universal human values are reflected in its motto: “नित्यं ज्ञानामृतं पिबेत्” (Drink an Elixir of Knowledge regularly)

Initially this college started in R.R.Vidhyalaya, Amirgadh with few students since it has no campus of its own till June 2013. The institution provides Bachelor of Arts program in English, Gujarati, History and Sociology affiliated to Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan. Sanskrit and Hindi are also given as first subsidiary subject. The college is under the administrative control of the higher Education Department, Government of Gujarat that frames all the policies and modalities regarding the functioning of the college.

In addition to routine teaching, highly qualified teachers of this institution are experimenters of things in teaching. With a view to arousing versatile personality of students, co-curricular and extracurricular activities like cultural, sports, N.S.S., are duly carried out here. Huge sports grounds, affluent library and disciplined, eco-friendly academic atmosphere are the peculiarities of this institution. In the nearer future this institution is going to introduce short term vocational courses and career oriented courses.

Currently in the leadership of visionary and hardworking principal Dr. Nayan K. Sonara, the institution carries out systematic, skill and values based courses along with vivid extension and outreach activities.
